It is a national holiday in Mexico. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over the French army. CLU celebrates the heritage and pride with several activities held during this holiday from delicious food to traditional Mexican Dances.

Noche de Gala is a special night for MCTC graduates to celebrate their successes with their families, as well as to serve as an inspiration to current students.

Come and see our traditional “Ofrenda” (remembrace table). Also, learn about the Mexican traditional ofCalaveritas, enjoy Pan de Muerto, watch performances from Quetzal Danza, and Mexican Folk Dancers. This October 28th and 29th 2009 at MCTC Helland Center 10:00am to 2:00pm. It's a holiday celebrated in Mexico and by Latin Americans living in the United States. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. The celebration occurs on November 1st and 2nd in connection with the Catholic holiday of All Saints' Day which occurs on Nov 1st and All Souls' Day which occurs on Nov 2nd. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. |

Several activities will be held throughout the day. There will be a performance from the Mexico Lindo Dance Troupe and the Aztec Dancers. Manny’s Restaurant will provide the delicious food and refreshments, to include Pan de Muerto and Mexican Hot Chocolate. The presentation is a collaboration of staff, faculty and students. • Design club students will display poster created around the Dia de los Muertos theme.
• spanish club and students will collaborate on the “Ofrenda” the “Alter” created around a theme.
